Website

I am now trying to set up a website where I can input all of my craft ideas and links to my favorite sites. It's under construction right now but hopefully up and running by October 1st!

New Craft Blog

Since times are tough I am thinking about Christmas already, yes I know it’s insane but if you think about it Christmas is right around the corner. I have 3 kids so it’s going to be expensive trying to buy everything they all want. I have decided that I am going to make some homemade crafts this year. I know how to Crochet and do plenty of other crafts. I figured that if I started a blog maybe we could all share ideas that aren’t very expensive and don’t take months to accomplish. Lucky for me my kids do love home made gifts. One year they asked their Nana to make them slippers and she happily did so. They have out grown them now so those slippers no longer fit them. I’ve also over the years made them blankets which they loved but no longer have because of being washed to many times.

So here are my ideas, I’m thinking of making the slippers socks, throw pillows, a blanket to match the throw pillows and a valance for their windows. And of course a matching hat and mitten set. It’s going to be a learning curve for me because I’ve never made most of these things but I am prepared to learn in a New York minute.

My mother-in-law brought me some books with patterns in them but I’m having a hard time trying to learn new stitches from a book, any pointers on that? She also brought a book on how to make doll clothes and barbie clothes. I didn’t think of that before but that would be a great gift to make some doll and barbie clothes. The bad thing is my girls aren’t into barbies or dolls anymore they have outgrown them but I do have nieces and friends that have little girls, so ok that works.

Other then Crocheting I am thinking of other ideas. Today a friend of mine told me that one year in high school the teacher used big glass bulbs and wrote their names in glue on one side and the year on the other and sprinkled glitter all over the glued areas. I thought well that is a neat idea. I could do that for the kids and put them on the tree every years and when they get ready to move out I can give the bulbs to them and they can start their own tradition in their own homes. This idea I really like and most likely I am going to do.

My main problem is time right now. Raising 3 kids and of course I babysit a little boy for my son to play with and the little extra income helps too. So I am a busy mom with only so much time to do things. My two oldest girls are 14 and 11 so doing a project they won’t see is about impossible.

I am going to be searching the web for some new creative ideas and posting them on here for everyone to see and try. I would love feedback if you try the craft or have good craft sites or ideas. Hopefully together we can make a place for all of us crafters to be creative and feel free to post our pictures and opinions.

For today I’m going to say farewell.
